    School Philosophy

Glendale School, as an advocate of lifelong learning, supports students to be independent thinkers, leaders and responsible citizens in a positive, challenging and diverse learning environment. We believe this goal is realized by teaching excellence through development of individual expertise and team collaboration; successful learning where students are challenged to become engaged learners and leaders; healthy and active living. We strive to create a positive learning environment where students, as responsible citizens, feel accepted and safe. We feel a strong sense of community is developed through school-wide events, classes working together and celebrating our diversity. We recognize that literacy and numeracy learning is essential for students to become life-long learners who ask questions, think critically and problem solve in our knowledge based society. Our staff is committed to fostering these basic principles in serving our students at Glendale. For our shared goals to be reached, our students are required to attend school regularly and pursue being intrinsically motivated in their own learning.

Principal's Message

Working within the framework of our District's 4 Cornerstone Values (Accountability, Collaboration, Integrity and Equity), Glendale school works to serve students preparing them for a lifetime of learning.  We want all of our students to experience a life full of dignity and fulfillment.  In doing so, Glendale staff provide a schooling experience that honors the whole child.  Each child at Glendale receives exposure to academic, social and physical activities that promote a well-rounded schooling experience.

We are an A.P.P.L.E. and LEADER IN ME School. We receive community support from our Sunrise Rotarians, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Kids on Track, H&W Produce, Junior ATB Bank.

We believe in teacher learning that impacts student learning.  We are guided by 2 key questions:

  1. How might we ensure all teacher learning and action is directly related to student learning?
  2. How might we ensure teacher learning and action is directly related to improved ‘visible’ results for all students?

Our school’s Core Belief is:

At Glendale School we build positive relationships through kindness, happiness and respect.

We foster academic and personal growth through positive action and curiosity.

We’re creating lifelong learners through resiliency and global citizenship.

A School of Opportunity for Everyone:

For Students:  We give them choice, voice and a caring environment to grow and develop.

For Teachers:  We collectively contribute, show flexibility and grow by helping one another.

For Parents:    We invite parents to share and ask questions in order to understand family                                     circumstances.

We welcome the student, parental and community partnerships that make Glendale School such a special place for all of us.
